School taxi fire

A GROUP of primary school children escaped with minor injuries when a school taxi they were in caught fire on the on-ramp from Sherwood to the N3 Durban-bound around 3pm yesterday.

Arrive Alive operations director, Garrith Jamieson said Rescue Care Paramedics found the taxi engulfed in flames. “Fortunately all of the children had managed to escape the fire.” – ANA

Rape and robbery

FREE State police were investigating a case of rape and house robbery at Jerusalema Park, Thabong, provincial police said yesterday.

Spokeswoman Mamello Mokhuoane said an 18-yearold woman was raped during a house robbery around 7pm last Friday. – ANA

Mama nominations

SOUTH African hip hop artists Refiloe Phoolo, known as Cassper Nyovest, and Kiernan Forbe, known as AKA, topped the list with nine nominations between them for the upcoming MTV Africa Music Awards Johannesburg 2016.

LIMPOPO police say they have broken the back of a syndicate involved in smuggling cars across the border into Zimbabwe.
