Baking my first Christmas cake many moons ago.

How serious a wine fundi are you, and what is your favourite tipple?

I am not a wine fundi but do enjoy a glass or two of Nederburg Baronne.

What kitchen utensil can you simply not live without?

I could not live without my bottle opener.

What new kitchen utensil or appliance would you love to have?

An orange or lemon juicer.

What’s the most kitsch thing in your kitchen?

Fridge magnets.

What are some foods you simply refuse to try?

Offal! No thank you!

What is your favourite restaurant in Durban and what do you usually order there?

I really enjoy dining at Atasca and I usually order fillet steak there.

What is your favourite cooking ingredient?

Butter. I love the taste.

What marks the most memorable meal that you have ever eaten?

I don’t have one most memorable meal, but as a child I loved family meals at home, cooked by my late mother.

Who is your favourite celebrity cook?

Gordon Ramsay. I love his positive attitude.

What do you rate as the sexiest of foods?

Strawberri­es. I love them.

What do you usually tip staff in restaurant­s?

Always 10% to 15%, depending on service quality.

Have you/would you send a dish back at a restaurant if

you were not happy?

I would definitely send a dish back if it wasn’t up to standard.

Favourite fruit, veg, dessert and store-bought sweet?

Strawberri­es, cauliflowe­r, lemon meringue pie and Turkish delight.
