$10 000 left in trolley returned

-

SENNETT: Nearly $10 000 (R139 000) in cash that a restaurant owner left in a shopping trolley at an upstate New York shop has been returned, thanks to a couple who found the money.

Managers at the Tractor Supply Co shop say the couple found about $9 800 in an envelope on Monday morning, along with a chequebook.

The Citizen of Auburn newspaper reports that the couple turned over the envelope to the shop’s staff, did their shopping and left without giving their names.

A local restaurant owner called the shop on Monday saying she had put a week’s worth of her restaurant’s receipts in the envelope and mistakenly left it in a trolley while doing her shopping on Sunday evening.

The woman, who didn’t want her name released, says she would like to find the couple to reward them. – AP
