Please take off the blinkers, Mr Zulu!

-

MR ROMANIUS Zulu, you are a man with blinkered vision.

How quickly you jump on Pravin Gordhan and yet you said nothing about greedy, corrupt government officials stealing billions of public funds for years.

You want us all to learn Zulu and now you want Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan to do the honourable thing and resign. (“Do the right thing, step down, minister!”). Gordhan has been charged with fraud which, according to legal experts, is an administrative procedure.

Thousands of public servants have taken early retirement and no one was charged. Why Pravin Gordhan? What happened to the principle “innocent till proven guilty”, which we hear so often, whenever a politician falls foul of the law? Are you telling us that it doesn’t apply in Gordhan’s case, just because he’s an Indian?

Yet you’ve never uttered a word while the president of the country has been facing 783 charges of fraud, corruption, racketeering and money laundering. He was found guilty of using public money to build his Nkandla mansion, which is tantamount to theft.

But you never asked him to step down. Why, Mr Zulu? Allegiance before morality and justice?

Then there is former SABC chief operations officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng, who cheated about his qualifications and was involved in mismangement of funds.

The SABC is running at a loss and yet this arrogant public servant trebled his salary without authorisation. He defied Thuli Madonsela, the public, Parliament and even the courts. Did you ask him to do the honourable thing and resign? You are so biased and sectional!
