Steaks are high in bovine beauty contest

-

BREMEN: German breeders from the states of Lower Saxony and Saxony are set to choose the region’s prettiest cow in the 44th “high-steaks” bovine beauty contest.

About 200 animals are taking part in the event this week in the northern town of Verden, with four finalists set to strut their stuff for a panel of jurors later in the day.

Organisers said last year’s winner – a cow named Lady Gaga, which has been showered with accolades at recent shows – had just given birth to a calf and was unfortunately not available to contest the title. – AP
