MAIZE production in South Africa may rebound from a nine-year low to rise 69 percent this year, as local farmers benefit from good rainfall following the worst drought on record.

Growers would probably produce 13.18 million tons of maize in the year through April, according to the median estimate of five analysts surveyed by Bloomberg. That compares with the 7.78 million tons reaped last year, according to data from the SA Grain Information Service.

The Crop Estimates liaison committee will publish its first estimate for the season on Tuesday. – Bloomberg
