A tale of two sauces
LAST week I had a sneezing fit over a pepper sauce that tasted of little but fire and flour. This week, my faith in sauces at Durban steakhouses was restored.
I popped into the Grill Jichana, in the Elangeni, for an early dinner and relished their 200g fillet, cooked a perfect rare with a rich, powerful pepper sauce that poured beautifully and was nicely balanced.
Paired with some superb crisp onion rings it was an excellent meal. And the price? R180 as opposed to R179 last week. – Frank Chemaly
