SAA back in the clouds
SAA said it managed to recover its flight schedule yesterday after industrial action by its cabin crew members earlier this week left thousands of passengers stranded for hours.
The airline’s cabin crew went on strike over international meal allowances, forcing at least 50 nationwide flights to be cancelled.
The biggest impact was on domestic flights. One international flight had to be cancelled.
A spokesperson for the South African Cabin Crew Association (Sacca) was reported to have said the crew had not had an international meal allowance increase in six years, and wanted their daily allowance raised from $131 (R1 700) for three meals to $170 a day.
