Heads roll at school

THE Gaut­eng Depart­ment of Ed­u­ca­tion con­firmed yes­ter­day that the prin­ci­pal and the en­tire se­nior man­age­ment of the AB Xuma Pri­mary School had been removed from the school with im­me­di­ate ef­fect, fol­low­ing al­le­ga­tions of sex­ual as­sault on 83 pupils by a school pa­troller.

“We re­main grate­ful to all stake­hold­ers. I am grate­ful that the depart­ment has pri­ori­tised this mat­ter, and we will leave no stone un­turned,” said MEC Panyaza Le­sufi.

“The pa­troller ap­peared at the Protea Mag­is­trate’s Court on Wed­nes­day, and was re­manded to ap­pear on Wed­nes­day, Oc­to­ber 18.”

The depart­ment said they would be en­gag­ing with the school gov­ern­ing body to see if there were any rea­sons they should not be dis­solved.

“An in­de­pen­dent body will in­ves­ti­gate all al­le­ga­tions against the prin­ci­pal and her man­age­ment.”
