Heads roll at school
THE Gauteng Department of Education confirmed yesterday that the principal and the entire senior management of the AB Xuma Primary School had been removed from the school with immediate effect, following allegations of sexual assault on 83 pupils by a school patroller.
“We remain grateful to all stakeholders. I am grateful that the department has prioritised this matter, and we will leave no stone unturned,” said MEC Panyaza Lesufi.
“The patroller appeared at the Protea Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, and was remanded to appear on Wednesday, October 18.”
The department said they would be engaging with the school governing body to see if there were any reasons they should not be dissolved.
“An independent body will investigate all allegations against the principal and her management.”
