Kathak dance debutantes

Five students from the Nateshwar Dance Academy will perform their classical dance debut in Kathak dance on Sunday at the Playhouse Opera Theatre at 5pm. The recital, Rangmanch Pravesh, will feature students of Smt Smeetha Singh Maharaj, from left, Usha Govind, Anneline Lisa Beharilall, Riyaska Singh (seated), Varuna Karishma Singh (standing behind) and Sarsha Pillay. Rangmanch Pravesh is the culmination of many years of training in Kathak, one of 10 major forms of Indian classical dance. Maharaj said the students had performed for many religious and corporate organisations, and had attended numerous dance workshops conducted by senior Kathak dancers from India.
