Skisa annual karate awards ceremony

SHOTOKAN Karate International South Africa (Skisa) held its annual awards evening at the DLI Hall on Saturday night. President of Skisa Sonny Pillay said besides honouring karatekas belonging to his association, special awards were made to individuals for their contribution towards uplifting the community.

Awardees included Ronnie Vengan, pictured second from left, who was honoured for his contribution to amateur sport in Isipingo.

Besides being president of the Isipingo and Districts FA, Vengan was also vice-president of the South Coast darts Association and president of the Isipingo Cricket Association.

Presenting him with the award are, pictured from left, Michael Kassis of Australia (president of the Commonwealth Games Karate), Bharat Sharma of India (Secretary general of karate – India) and Hanshi Sonny Pillay (president of Karate South Africa).
