- By Derek Helm

THE weather is certainly making sure that only the really hardy golfers continue to play in this heat. Garry Brown has started the year off in top gear as he has won the first two individual stableford competitions to be played. On Saturday, he scored a solid 40 points to lead the way home from Wayne Goldschmidt on 39 and Colin Hartley on 38. Charlie Hansen and Martin Hammill were next best with 38 points apiece. The golf course is still very playable around the tees and greens and Douggie and his staff have been doing an excellent job in keeping our course in good shape. The twoclubs fell like drizzle and nine were achieved on Saturday afternoon.

The unofficial Madalakwed match played also saw the team of four youngsters at last getting a narrow win over their four senior opponents. The club remains a buzzing social venue and many new patrons have been frequenting the club.

This weekend will host a normal individual stableford competition so, while the weather is still kind, get your golf clubs out of the garage and come to get some well deserved exercise on the fairways of the Queenstown Golf Club.
