Refuse trucks boost service
New vehicles to improve Lukhanji rubbish removal
LUKHANJI Municipality has celebrated the arrival of two refuse removal trucks, which the local authority says will improve refuse removal services in the area.
Acting executive mayor Mzukisi Gwantshu, speaking during the handover on Wednesday, said the trucks cost the Lukhanji R4.5-million.
Jacksons’ general manager Patrick Casey said the vehicles could transport 12 tons of refuse and compact it at any given time.
“These are long-range delivery trucks and can even pick up bins. We know service delivery is important to the municipality and we are happy to have this professional relationship with you and de- liver according to your specifications,” Casey said.
He said it was important for Jacksons as a service provider to understand the needs of the local authority, with three of the dealership’s technicians dedicated to trucks in the 24-hour workshop.
Gwantshu said the municipality was looking forward to improved delivery of services.
“We will attend to all the areas and honour the schedule for removing refuse. Receiving these trucks will improve refuse removal in Lukhanji.”
He said community services political head Mzwandile Dyan should inform all councillors and community members of the refuse removal schedule.
