Nabbed, haul and all
A HAUL of stolen property was retrieved by Red Guard officers last Tuesday when two shoplifters were apprehended for stealing liquor, operations manager Willie Reynecke told The Rep.
The police were called and it was found that the two women suspects were also in possession of a large quantity of stolen groceries, shoes and clothing.
The alarm of a fast-food outlet was triggered by men on the roof. Response officers apprehended two and handed them over to the police, but the third got away.
An officer on patrol came across a man with a firearm attempting to rape a woman. When the officer approached, the suspect ran away and dropped the gun. As the woman was too afraid to open a case she was taken home and the firearm handed over to the police.
On Thursday, it was reported that a suspicious-looking vehicle was following a cash-in-transit vehicle and another officer spotted the vehicle in Komani Street, where it was stopped. The police were called and a man was handed over.
An officer on patrol in Kingsway witnessed an accident, after which the driver ran away. The passenger complained of pain and an ambulance was called.
A school in Cofimvaba called for assistance and a man was found near the premises with a box of tools which he could not explain. The assistance of the police was requested.
The same day a man who stole meat from a supermarket was taken to the charge office and a service station requested help when a woman was stabbed in the arm and back. An ambulance was summoned. – Rep reporter
