Breakers pledge turnaround

-

Their match against Fort Hare Blues away in Alice last weekend was postponed due to the UFH’s centenary celebrations. With the other teams in the bottom half starting to pick up vital wins, have switched alliances to join forces with Swallows. The same players were instrumental in the 23-18 defeat of their former club at Mlungisi Stadium a couple of weeks ago.

When coaches and players leave a club of that calibre and results are not good, questions have to be asked.

Vanda said Breakers were in a healthy position both financially and as far as team structures were concerned.

“We will bounce back. The results are not good but we will turn it around with our first win this weekend against Ocean Sweepers. “Then we will travel to East London and beat Buffs,” he said confidently.

He said the executive was working hard to build morale.

He said while the concerns of supporters were taken seriously, “everything will fall into place”.

With the demise of Swifts Police, the relegation of Progress to the sub-union and last year’s relegation of OC to the Premier League, it seems rugby in Komani is in a downward spiral. It would be a huge blow to local rugby if another team were to fall. It remains to be seen whether Breakers can revive an ailing campaign.

‘We will turn it around with our first win again this weekend’ - Vanda
