Neglect shows in Ezibeleni infrastructure

-

Since 1994, Ezibeleni has been sidelined.

Lukhanji Municipality has brought the draft budget to the community, including promises of millions to be allocated to Ezibeleni for service delivery, but no money seems to be used here.

Ezibeleni’s residents are neglected by the municipality and are living in the dark, with appliances being destroyed by the power cuts.

Ezibeleni’s roads are poor and dusty with no drains.

The road near the railway lines is full of potholes, with gravel being used to fill them.

As residents, we want clear information where the money is going that has been set aside to improve our lives.

The municipality must stop blocking electricity because it is an essential, like water.

The municipality must understand that people are not working and that people buy themselves electricity because it is prepaid. An amica- ble solution must be found in public meetings.

As the EFF, we said the municipality must give amnesty to those found tampering with electricity because they are unemployed. People are also not supposed to pay to have their electricity unblocked.

Our constitution does not allow for people to live without basic needs, including water and electricity.

Finally, has the transformer issue in Ezibeleni been addressed?
