Local rugby teams hope for better results this weekend

The battle is on for promotion from the Premier to the Super League. Busy Boys are the hot favourites after taking outright pole position in their 35-20 win over King Brumbies. They have amassed 27 points and are still unbeaten this season. They are followed by Ntlaza Lions after their devastatin­g win over Shining Stars propelled them to 26 league points. Young Leopards are also unbeaten with a 100% record after defeating Evergreens 12-3. They occupy third spot on 23 points. The match between Gonubie Sea Birds and Wallabies failed to take place as the field was deemed unplayable.

This weekend sees Breakers at home to Cambridge. Swallows entertain Old Boys in a tough encounter. Berlin Tigers will be looking for their first win against Fort Hare. Police will be gunning for all five points against Africans in King William’s Town. Winter Rose host Ocean Sweepers and Buffs are away to All Blacks. In the Premier League, Shining Stars travel to Stutterhei­m to face Wallabies. Ngculu Zebras are at home to Young Leopards and Busy Boys will want to consolidat­e their top spot against Ready Blues. Evergreens meet King Brumbies and Sea Birds make the trip to Ntlaza. Old Collegians have a bye.
