Derby v Hudson Park, chess: Queen’s won 4-2. Squash: Queen’s won 10-3. Hockey: U14A won 4-1, U16B won 6-0, U16A won 5-1, third won 5-2, second drew 0-0, first lost 2-3.

Rugby: U14B won 27-0, U14A won 22-14, U15B won 36-5, U15A won 43-0, U16B won 24-15, U16A lost 13-27, fourth won 60-0, third lost 19-27, second won 47-28, first lost 14-20.

Cross country: U14 2nd Mthokozisi Magaga, U15 3rd Cwenga Jobela, U16 second Gwiba Kene, third Khuselo Kene, U19 first Lwanele Baduza.

Martial arts: Loyiso Dumani, Dillon Oelofse and Siba Sontshi participat­ed in the Arnold Classic last week in Sandton, representi­ng the SARMAF Eastern Cape team. Loyiso brought home two silver medals for unison kata and kumite, Siba a bronze for unison kata and Dillon a gold for grappling. The highlight of the event was getting to see Arnold Schwarzene­gger, after whom the event is named, and in which 10 500 people took part in 45 different sporting codes. Derby v St Andrew’s College: Squash: Queen’s won 4-12 (15 games to nine); cross country: Queen’s won (26-52 – lowest score wins) and secured the top three positions. Hockey: U14A won 5-3, U16A won 3-0, firsts drew 1-1. Rugby: U14A won 45-0, U15A lost 0-33, U16A lost 12-48, firsts lost 23-31.

GHS

Hockey: The first team competed in the Spar tournament in Komani recently and beat Stutterhei­m 7-0, beat Adelaide Gymnasium 6-0, beat Aliwal North 2-0 and lost to Burgersdor­p 2-1.

Karate: Morgan Cobbold, Grade 9, a student at Tom’s Mixed Martial Arts School, participat­ed in the Arnold Classic championsh­ips in Johannesbu­rg, representi­ng Eastern Province. She achieved a silver for kata, a bronze for grappling and fourth place for wooden weapons. The highlight of the event for Morgan was being introduced to Arnold Schwarzene­gger. Netball: U19A lost 6-43, U16B lost 3-26, U19B lost 8-22, U15A lost 10-24, U19C won 21-6, U15B lost 11-14, U19D won 10-4, U14A lost 8-28, U16A lost 5-20, U14B lost 5-23. Laerskool Hangklip James Botha and Marius Helm have made the Eastern Cape karate team. Botha represente­d Tom’s Dojo in the Eastern Cape team during the Arnold Classic Africa 2016 in Sandton in Kata and Kumite.
