RED GUARD response officers twice apprehende­d suspects for theft from the same supermarke­t. On both occasions the goods were recovered and the suspects handed over to the police, operations manager Willie Reynecke told The Rep.

Just after midnight on Thursday the security officer at a finance building in Cathcart Road reported that suspects were attempting to steal the CCTV cameras on the premises. Response officers apprehende­d two suspects who were also allegedly in possession of a laptop stolen from a neighbouri­ng business. The suspects and stolen property were handed over.

A few hours later officers on patrol in Lady Frere noticed three suspects with suspected stolen clothing. They apprehende­d two and recovered several stolen clothing items.

In a busy morning, officers on patrol in Ezibeleni recognised two suspects who were involved in the alleged robbery of a shop the previous day when the owner was assaulted. They were apprehende­d and handed over.

On Friday, officers at a cash and carry apprehende­d a suspect for theft and later officers in Mlungisi noticed a person removing property from a house. On investigat­ion they found that the suspect had been accommodat­ed by the home owners and when they went to town he allegedly stole appliances.

Saturday night, brought another panic alert from a tavern and another stabbing and on Sunday night there were two more similar cases at other taverns. All the suspects were passed on to the police. – Rep reporter
