Skilled communicator
A NEW, seasoned communicator was welcomed by the Chris Hani District Municipality (CHDM) as senior manager at the beginning of the year.
Bubelwa Ganyaza, who will be the official spokeswoman of the district authority, has been appointed as the new senior manager for communication, customer care and stakeholder relations.
She was the spokeswoman for the Eastern Cape provincial legislature from 2012 until she joined CHDM.
Before that Buli, as she is affectionately known, was the spokeswoman for Raymond Mhlaba local municipality between 2006 and 2012. Raymond Mhlaba Municipality was previously Nkonkobe Local Municipality.
Ganyaza is a media and communication specialist with about 11 years of experience in the field. The Alice-born mother of a three-year-old girl is a University of Fort Hare graduate who also later became a junior lecturer at the same institution.
She said she was registered as a chartered public relations practitioner with the Public Relations Institute of South Africa.
“My role in CHDM will include, among other things, enhancing the effective flow of information between the institution and all its stakeholders and guiding the stakeholder engagement strategy for the district to best deliver and meet public expectations.”
Ganyaza, a member of the Black Management Forum, said she found Komani an active town.
“It reminds me a lot of King William’s Town when it comes to development and this has not been a frustrating move. People are welcoming and this is a home away from home.”
Asked if she found the working environment different, Ganyaza said it was a busy time for municipalities with the preparation of annual reports and IDP roadshows.
