Thief caught on stolen bicycle worth R60k

LAST Monday morning, Red Guard response officers attended to a panic alert and apprehende­d a suspect who had attempted to purchase goods with false money, operations manager Willie Reinecke told The Rep.

At about 1am the next day, officers on patrol in Mlungisi saw a suspect riding a bicycle which had been reported stolen about four days earlier and was valued at R60000. The suspect was apprehende­d and handed over to the police with the bicycle.

Early on Tuesday morning, officers on patrol found a wheelbarro­w containing a generator at the bridge near Frontier Hospital and handed the items in at the police station.

That morning, officers on duty at a supermarke­t apprehende­d a suspect for theft and that night, response officers attended to an alarm at a hardware store, where they apprehende­d two suspects breaking in.

On Thursday night, the company’s 24-hour control room received a call regarding a person lying on the railway line near the golf course. Response officers establishe­d that it was an elderly man who had passed away.

On Friday night, officers noticed a suspicious-looking person in Tylden Street with a big toolbox full of tools. The suspect dropped it and ran away when he noticed the response vehicle.

On Sunday night officers were summoned to a house in Ezibeleni where they had to remove the son of the owner from the premises after he had destroyed items. – Rep reporter
