-

LAST Monday evening Red Guard response officers attended to an alarm at an engineering concern, operations manager Willie Reinecke told The Rep. When they arrived, the suspects had gone, but the officers recovered a vehicle battery close to the fence, that the suspects were trying to steal.

On Tuesday night, the security officer at Morums Arcade reported a suspect attempting to break in to a business. Response officers apprehended a suspect in possession of a bag filled with cool drinks stolen at the shop. He and the drinks were handed over to the police.

On Wednesday morning, response officers were summoned by a panic alarm to a store where the owner reported that two suspects had pretended that they wanted to purchase paraffin and when the owner opened the gate they robbed him of cash.

An hour later, they attended to a panic alarm at another store where the same two suspects had also robbed the owner of cash and airtime. The suspects had again gained access to the store by pretending they wanted to purchase paraffin.

The next morning response officers responded to a panic alarm at a third store where they chased after two suspects who had pointed a firearm at the store owner and attempted to rob him.

The two suspects were apprehended and it was found they had robbed five businesses, including those on Wednesday. An air pistol was recovered and both suspects were handed over to the police.

Late on Thursday night the security officer at an earthmoving business called for assistance after he noticed suspects attempting to steal diesel. Response officers chased after suspects who ran into the veld. However, they recovered all the diesel stolen.

After lunch on Friday response officers attended to a panic alarm at a carwash where they had to remove a staff member who was under the influence of alcohol and attempting to stab fellow staff members with a knife.
