DO YOU think the Enoch Mgijima Local Municipality (EMLM) should be placed under provincial administration?

The municipality consists of under qualified employees. We are experiencing water and power outages, which is a clear indication that the municipality does not care about us. There are potholes even in town and the refuse is not being removed. The situation was better under the whites’ ruling system, whereby all municipalities were being managed by directors. There is money provided for each municipality yearly, but the service delivery is very poor.

The deterioration over a the years and the struggle to have a reasonable standard of living is becoming unbearable. The poorest of the poor are the ones who are suffering most. The municipality must be placed under administration.

EMLM must be placed under administration. These problems have been there for a long time. Municipal vehicles were auctioned because the employees were not doing their jobs properly. Why did Cogta MEC Fikile Xasa wait for the damage to be done to respond? CHDM itself is not doing well but Xasa will wait till it is too late. All these problems existed when this municipality was still Lukhanji and remained unresolved. The only solution is to place it under administration.

This municipality should be placed under administration because I have been paying my dues and still do not get service delivery. It will only be better if somebody takes charge of the situation and it must be someone who knows what they are doing.

They have proven they cannot spend taxpayers’ money correctly to provide services. Somebody has to take over because the public of Komani have been patient enough. I have to run around town looking for petrol to run a generator as the electricity went off without notification. I do not want to read in the newspapers that it was because of a too high demand on the electricity supply that we are in this situation. The municipality should do maintenance. If they spent the money correctly we would not be in this situation now.
