– On Saturday, Amy Storm took part in stock car racing at the Summerpride showgrounds in Amalinda.

She and her vehicle “Dory the Datsun” came third.

Previously, on July 14, she attended the Klein Karoo Championships in Oudtshoorn – one of the biggest events in dirt ovals in South Africa.

She raced among 15 other women whose vehicles had bigger engines than hers.

Despite this, she took home the second place trophy.

Amy has been involved in stock cars for seven months and is holding the Stutterheim name high wherever she goes.

She is currently in third place in the championships for Junior Hotrods. She is hoping to go far in stock car racing and get Border colours in 2019.

the Right Reverend Ebenezer Ntali, Bishop of Grahamstown, visited the Anglican Church of St Barnabas in Stutterheim.

He came to bless and officially open the Margaret Rance Memorial Hall, which has recently been rebuilt and refurbished.

Many thanks from the rector, Fr Simphiwe Mnukiso, and the entire parish to the Rance family for their kind donation of the wood for the renovations and to Lou and John Rance for unveiling the plaque dedicated to their late mother in the hall.

The hall is intended for the use of the parish in many areas and ministries.

Everyone is familiar with good-hearted teas after Sunday services and there is a group of elderly women who meet there every morning for fellowship. The hall is also used for St Barbies Sunday School on the third Sunday of the month.

Bishop Ebenezer also celebrated the Eucharist, during which he confirmed Danielia Walters and inducted Trudy Stride and Dylan Potter as lay ministers. It was a joyful and delightful service enjoyed by all, with the Bishop being well loved in this town for many years.

51 athletes completed Event #197 in an icy cold wind on Saturday. There were runners from Cape Town and East London visiting family who attended. This week will see Lonwabo Adonis complete his 50th parkrun.

Don’t forget to join us for our 200th event on August 25.

East London to see their sister-in-law, Dickie Phillips, who is still in St Dominics Hospital and will have to stay there until the infection in her knee has cleared.

Garden Club and the Women’s Association are combining on Tuesday August 14, to host Tracey du Toit who will speak on the healing of her cancer via the detox and holistic way.
