Make your own tree decorations
Oh Christmas tree … how difficult it is to decorate thee! (with apologies to composer Ernst Anschütz).
If it’s the first time you have a Christmas tree in your home, do not despair.
If you can buy some ornaments at local stores that is great, and you will be able to turn the tree into a thing of beauty.
This route may prove expensive, however, so why not instead try to make some ornaments? Stringing popcorn together can make a beautiful decoration for a Christmas tree while the children can enjoy making angels out of paper with glue and glitter.
During the holidays, this can be a wonderful boredom-buster exercise!
Make small, personalised Christmas cards and hang them on the tree for guests to read on Christmas Day or buy some gold or silver spraypaint for use on acorns.
Attach a small loop using string and there you go!
Another innovative idea is making pom-poms of different colours out of wool (the kids might also enjoy this one) or baking gingerbread men and hanging these on the tree – a delightful snack for the special day.
Finally, why not use some wood slices, paint merry pics on these and insert a loop for hanging – all at low cost.
Enjoy decorating your Christmas tree this year. – Rep reporter
