The Komani4Me clean-up campaign encourages local businesses to clean up the pavements in front of their business premises. The Rep reporter asked local business owners whether they were taking part in this initiative. people who camp outside our shop. It is terrible because people urinate on the wall which is bad for our customers. We have tried to put up “no loitering” signs and so far that has helped. We have donated no parking signs as well to the community to stop trucks from parking in certain areas.

This is something our business has been doing and continues to do, especially during operation days when we clean up a huge section of our street. The only difficulty is the taxis that park on the street during the day. They make it hard to keep the space clean, but we try our best. I have seen other businesses near our premises taking part. I spoke to one of the committee members and I think their plan is amazing and since the municipality doesn’t have a budget to do most things, I think it's the responsibility of the business community to play our part.

I was not aware of this initiative, but I am excited about it. To me, it means bringing back our dignity and it reminds me of my high school days when we were taught about taking care of the environment. I believe that a good mind works well in a clean space. We are committing together with MMM Construction to be a part of this initiative by cleaning our section of pavement.

We are keen to get involved in whichever way we can. I think it is a brilliant initiative. It's time for us to stand up and do something although this is something that was not supposed to happen. I definitely think it is needed and we can see the results around town. We have a gentleman who comes in regularly to clean up and keep our space clean. We are willing and we want to be more involved.

I am proud to be a Queenstonian and I feel that every business can bring a different aspect and outlook to this initiative. We grew up here and have had a business for 25 years and this is home. We have started with cleaning our section of the business area and are planning to put in some plants and put out recycling bins and also try to get local schools involved.
