Response officers stop thieves in their tracks

Last Tuesday afternoon, Red Guard response officers attended to a panic alarm at a filling station, where they apprehende­d suspects who had allegedly stolen money from customers and were selling their goods on the premises, operations manager Willie Reinecke told The Rep.

The suspects were handed over to the police.

That evening, a St John Street resident called the company s ’ 24-hour control room and reported that someone was breaking in at the neighbour s ’ house.

Response officers apprehende­d a suspect on the premises with stolen goods in his possession. The suspect was handed over to the police.

On Friday afternoon, response officers attended to a panic alarm at a house in Top Town.

They apprehende­d a suspect who had allegedly stolen some clothes from a wash line.

The clothes were handed back to the owner and the suspect released after the owner declined to open a criminal case.

On Sunday afternoon, response officers attended to an alarm signal at the Bible Life Church, where the roof had been blown off by strong winds.

The keyholder was called and items were removed from the church.

The same afternoon, security officers at a supermarke­t apprehende­d a suspect for theft from the shop. The stolen goods were returned and the suspect handed over to the police.

In a busy afternoon, a response officer attending to an alarm at a business in Factory Road noticed a person walking with a vehicle battery.

He stopped the person and after investigat­ion it was establishe­d that the battery had allegedly been stolen from a vehicle at a business nearby.

The battery was returned and the suspect handed over to the police.
