Dedicated local community newspapers business manager and founder of Talk of the Town, retires

Mauneen Charter, business manager of community newspapers including The Rep within Arena Holdings, is retiring at the end of this month, after many years.

The Rep staff members paid tribute to her.

“Luvuyo Mjekula, editor: Mauneen, I will forever be grateful to you for giving me the opportunit­y to be editor of The Rep and putting your trust in my capabiliti­es.

“Our working relationsh­ip may not have been the longest, but it sure has been a very good one. I do recall, though, that we knew each other before we even met.

“You have been a selfless manager who has looked out for others and pushed me and my colleagues to be better at what we do. Thank you for that and all that you have taught me. “I wish you a safe and happy retirement. I will miss you.”

You have given so much to “this organisati­on, and you have helped it reach new heights. “You deserve a fantastic retirement and we all wish you the best in your life ahead. “Chux Fourie, sub-editor: Mauneen, you have been our go to person who seems able to solve every problem - be it technologi­cal, in editorial, advertisin­g or even personal. I thank her for always being approachab­le and unflappabl­e, calmly taking over problems and finding solutions.

“I wish you a long and happy retirement with good health and plenty of time to relax and enjoy your children and grandchild­ren and spend time doing those things you enjoy. We all owe you a debt of gratitude.”
