FACE 2 with
What do you do?
I am an entrepreneur, a small businessman specialising in panelbeating and spraypainting.
What do you enjoy about it?
I enjoy working on the different car types and models. It is not a job, it is my passion.
How has Covid-19 affected your business?
I am so blessed to be good at what I do. Covid-19 gave my customers outside of Komani the opportunity to bring their cars to me to do the necessary repairs while they were at home and not in urgent need of them.
How do you think, as a country, we are handling the Covid-19 pandemic?
All South Africans treated Covid-19 differently. Some saw it as an opportunity, some took it for granted until a loved one was lost. Some did some introspection and realised tomorrow is never promised to anyone.
If you were advising a client who wanted a secondhand vehicle, what would you say is the most important thing they must consider?
I would say take with you a panelbeater and a mechanic to assist you with your decision. It is also important to look at the mileage and service history. Your mechanic will advise you on the engine etc, whereas your panelbeater will be able to tell you if the car has been in any major accidents.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
I like to spend time with my wife and three kids. The time we have together is most the most valuable thing in life.
A place you would love to visit?
It would have to be Germany. They have the biggest car manufacturers in the world like Mercedes Benz.
What do you love about Komani?
Besides the issues already spoken about for years like potholes, electricity outages and shortages of water, I love this gold mine. In EMLM we have 34 wards comprising more than 15 surrounding villages. I have customers who support my business from every one of those villages. Therefore I am blessed each day with all the support.
