Help local dance winner

A Komani dancer needs help to make a once-in-a-lifetime trip to New York.

Sade Cassels, 20, was the winner of the 2019 Internal Arts talent showcase in East London.

Having impressed the judges at the competition, Cassels was invited to the International Modelling Talent Agency convention, which was to be held this year in June.

Due to the lockdown, the convention was postponed and is now set to be held in January next year. While the delay may have been an inconvenience, it has given Cassels the chance to raise the funds she needs for the R100,000 trip.

I have been struggling to

“find sponsors for my trip.

I am hoping to put my story “out there and that my community here in Komani will make this dream happen. Komani youth has no hope “and believes there is no future for young people,” she said. I want to take this

“opportunity so that hopefully it will be an inspiration to others.” Cassels said her life s dream

’ had always been to pursue a career in dancing.

I had my own dance group “in high school. We used to perform at functions and modelling shows,” she said. As a teenager, parents are

“always telling you that you need to work, that you need to become a lawyer or a doctor. But there is nothing wrong

“with wanting to be a dancer.”

The convention will run for a week and participants will have the opportunity to network with directors and producers.
