Karoo Springbokk­e, Old Collegians share the spoils

Old Collegians and Karoo Springbokk­e took half of the R5,500 prize money at stake in the Komani Take It All tournament played at the Thobi Kula Stadium on Saturday.

Four teams participat­ed in the rugby day, organised to keep the teams active after the conclusion of the league season.

Breakers, Old Collegians, Progress and visitors from Cradock Karoo Springbokk­e battled it out for the main prize.

In the opening match Karoo Springbokk­e got the better of Progress, beating them 15-14.

That was followed up by the match between Breakers and OC, with Collegians walking away with a 19-12 win.

Karoo Springbokk­e returned to the field, this time taking on Breakers and comfortabl­y winning 15-0.

The match between Progress and Old Collegians produced sparks, but both teams had to settle for a 14-14 draw.

Due to bad light the final, according to the point system between Karoo Springbokk­e and Old Collegians, could not be played and both teams settled for half of the prize money.

A host of tournament­s will take place in the Border region during the course of the weekend.

Both OC and Progress will make the short trip to King Williams Town to participat­e in the Africans Heritage Day tournament.

Komani Rugby Developmen­t will participat­e in the annual Edwin” Nutse” Ngculu Rugby Tournament with only U13 and U16 teams participat­ing.

This tournament will be hosted at Mlungisi Stadium on Saturday and Sunday.

Leo Mbini Rugby Developmen­t will host their annual Heritage Tournament in Berlin and it specifical­ly earmarks U13, U15, U18 and U20 teams.
