Kairo’s Full Gospel Church from Komani Park donated baby clothing items to Caring, Mentoring and Restoration (CMR) on Tuesday.

The church also donated baby clothing items to the maternity ward at Frontier Hospital.

CMR is a non-profit organisation which specialises in providing child protection and is based in Grey Street, Komani.

CMR is also a Christian-based organisation which takes care of the needy, the poor and the vulnerable in Komani and surrounding communities.

They also have two houses that are housing a total of 16 children in Whittlesea. Children ages ranges from newborn to 18.

Francois Le Roux from Kairo’s Full

Gospel Church said: “We are doing a baby drive where we are donating baby clothes to the under privileged families and children. We are trying to do this initiative once a year and were are aiming at going big each year.”

Le Roux said the baby drive started in 2015 after the birth of his child.

“While we were in hospital in 2015, we saw a baby that had nothing, completely nothing, we took our stuff and gave it to the baby in need and bought other things for our child and that is how this baby drive came about. We have a heart for children,” he said.

“Today we brought some baby clothing where we had toddler clothing and clothing for older kids. The clothing that we brought ranges from toddler to 14 years old and it’s clothing that’s suitable for both winter and summer seasons,” Le Roux said.

CMR programme manager

Nomaphelo Mkhize said: “This is not the first time that Le Roux has brought a donation of this nature to CMR. This donation is really assisting us because we are depending on subsidies, donations and so forth.

“Donations help us because we have two foster houses that are based in Whittlesea. Children are placed there, abandoned, neglected and abused.

“All kinds of children are placed there.”

She added that some of the children were in dire need of the donations such as Kairo’s Full Gospel Church in providing for the children who are sometimes found on the streets.

She applauded the step taken by the church in investing in children via their donations.

The organisation said that their doors were open for anyone who wished to make donations.
