Chris Hani sides face off for chance to represent region

The Nedbank Cup kicked off at the weekend with the Chris Hani region teams competing to for a spot in the next round of the tournament.

The stream in the region held matches to decide which teams would represent the streams.

In stream A, Xhalanga Blues started their campaign of the tournament with a 2-0 victory over Young Brazilians in Cala.

Mountain Climbers suffered a 6-0 defeat against Noshumi United in Cacadu.

Noshumi United gained a soft win over Mabatshe Zinkosi Zam in Cacadu.

For this stream, Seven Stars is scheduled to take on Xalanga Celtics on Saturday at Cala Indoor.

At 3pm, Xalanga Blues will play the winner of the 12pm game between Seven Stars and Xalanga Celtics.

In stream B, Young Stars won 2-0 against Amarasta United.

In a match that kicked off at 1pm, Pioneers were victorious, beating Barcelona 2-0.

Young Stars secured a place to the next stage of the tournament after cruising to a 50 win over Pioneers.

All games were played at the Cofimvaba Stadium.

Stream C1 matches commenced with Amathole versus Santos match having to be decided by penalties after their game ended with a single goal apiece.

Santos won the penalty shootout 3-2.

MK Academy defeated TK United 3-1 in Emadakeni.

McBride spectators were entertaine­d by King Vultures who won by 5-2 against Apollo Chiefs. In another match that had to be decided by penalties after 2-2 draw, Rocklands Swallows were defeated 5-4 by Mitford Try Again.

The next games for this stream are scheduled to be played in Shilo on Saturday, where MK Academy will meet Santos and King Vultures will face Mitford Try Again. The winners of those two matches will face each other for the top spot at 3pm.

In Stream C2, AFC Komani Stars won 3-2 against Phoenix, who were the first to net a goal.

Linge Aces and Young Minds’ match was decided by penalties after the game ended 2-2.

Young Minds won the match 3-2 on penalties.

Holy Kings defeated Moonlight 1-0.

Another match that was decided by penalties was between Soul Buddyz and Saints, after neither team found the back of the net in regulation time. Soul Buddyz won 4-1 on penalties.

The next stage of the tournament is expected to take place on Saturday, where AFC Komani Stars will take on Young Minds, Holy Kings facing Soul Buddyz and winners facing each other at 3pm. All stream C2 games will take place at Dumpy Adams Stadium.
