The Rep

Dreaming of a prosperous year ahead

- TEMBILE SGQOLANA

This has been a difficult year for SA, as the country still faces economic challenges, increases in petrol prices, constant load-shedding and corruption.

It has also been a year marked with sadness, as people lost their loved ones and their jobs, while some have struggled to put food on their tables.

Recovering from Covid-19 is still a battle for local businesses with power outages in town making it harder. Small businesses have been affected, as they struggled to keep afloat.

Workers have been retrenched and others will not receive their bonuses.

Throughout these experience, we have had good stories of kindness.

We have seen people breaking new ground and jaw-dropping moments of achievements by Komani people, from sports to academics, and their careers.

Throughout this year, we have been with you, as The Rep, covering your best and worst moments. Now we are printing our last paper for this year, I wish you the happiest holidays with enough love, kindness, happiness, money and possessions.

During the holiday season, we are often reminded that there is still much good out there and people who dedicate themselves to making our communities a better place to live in.

My holiday wish is for everyone to feel the peace of the season and that we will each carry into the New Year, the commitment to be better people, to be more thoughtful and thankful.

The sense of joy, hope and faith celebrated on Christmas is hard to capture in words. It’s my hope that all can share in the spirit that is Christmas on this day and throughout the year.

I would like to thank all the readers and advertisers who continue to put their faith and loyalty into this newspaper and respect the job we do. The employees at The Rep are passionate beyond belief in their efforts to put out a great newspaper. Your support makes it possible for this paper to deliver the best news in the area.

I wish you peace and realisation of your dreams and we are looking forward to spending the New Year in your company and working together to make this area a better place to live in.

Drive safely and enjoy the time you spend with those you love. We will see you next year.
