Opinions on the street

- The Rep reporter, Uviwe Jara took to the street to hear

There have been a lot of potholes that have been fixed in Komani this month, opinions about the upgrades.

Xolani Ntuli from Prince Alfred

Potholes are damaging our vehicles and tyres are expensive, so it is good to see the potholes being fixed. They should close all the potholes to keep our cars safe and so that we can stop patching tyres every now and then.

Sbongakonke Mchunu from Prince Alfred

It’s a good thing that they are closing the potholes because they are hurting us and the cars as well. They hurt us in the sense that we use work vehicles, so it becomes our problem when the car has issues with things like shocks and ball joints. At least now, we will have a much smoother drive.

Mphumzi Magqwanti from CBD

I think it’s better for people with cars because cars get damaged by potholes, especially when there are too many. I think this could also be positive for economic growth because when the road is of a good standard, investors will be interested in investing here.

Olwethu Mgebisa from Mitford

Patching up the potholes is a good thing because some cars’ tyres burst because of the potholes and potholes can also cause accidents, especially when someone uses a road, he/she is not familiar with. Then criminals see an opportunity to steal the car or something inside the car.

Lumko Nuntsu from Bhongweni

I see potholes are being fixed, but why did they wait for this long? The ANC was supposed to have fixed the potholes a long time ago. Most of our roads do not require potholes to be fixed, but the whole road must be revamped. For example, there’s great paving done in Nomzamo and they should replace the tar with it.
