We are very hurt by what the municipality did. Some of us are not employed. I would understand if they allocated us space or provided us with a place to work. They sent us to sell in an outlying area where there are no people. We have responsibilities and we need to make money.
Zamajola Nzuta from Ezibeleni
I think what the municipality did was right because this (Cathcart Road) is the face of Komani so it should always be kept clean. It should be appealing to visitors that use this road. It would also attract investors when it’s clean.
Zukisani Xhakalashe from Polar Park
What the municipality did was wrong. They have been disturbing us since 2008. I learnt to sell here and I managed to further my studies with the money I made from selling here. I have a family to support with this money. What are we supposed to support our families with when they take our stock.

It is disturbing. The state that we are in as a country, the government cannot provide job opportunities whether you are qualified or not. Municipal officials are in good places and what about someone who comes to find something to put on the table? As a citizen, it does not sit well with me.
Simamkele Ngcuka from Ezibeleni
I do not see a lot that is wrong with what the municipality did last week by chasing street vendors off Cathcart Road. There are dangers to selling in the main road, as cars are moving at high speeds. The municipality was trying to keep them safe from what could possibly go wrong.
