Hit-and-run motorist still sought

POLICE are still on the hunt for a motorist who ran over a Good Samaritan along the M1 on Saturday afternoon. The driver of a white van was caught on camera when the vehicle hit a man who had stopped to assist a stranded motorist on the freeway. The driver did not stop and is till at large. The accident was recorded on a passing motorist’s dashboard camera. The police confirmed that a case was opened at Bramley police station by the Joburg metro police. “We are investigat­ing a case of culpable homicide,” police spokesman Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela said. He said the visuals on the dashboard camera were not clear and police could not make out the van’s registrati­on number. Police were in the process of retrieving visuals from the freeway speed cameras in a bid to identify the hit-and-run driver. View the video at http://youtube/f7vCnC07eu­E.
