Revenge porn a crime

JAPAN’S lower house yesterday passed a bill criminalising “revenge porn”, as it seeks a legal remedy to a growing problem of the internet age. The bill, which was unanimously accepted, was to be sent to the upper house and enacted today. Under the bill, people who distribute revenge porn with compromising photos or videos of former partners face up to three years in prison or a fine of up to 500 000 yen (R47 500).
