Recession spurs early poll

JAPAN’S Prime Minister Shinzo Abe told his party yesterday he would call a snap general election and delay a planned sales tax rise, the day after figures showed the country was in recession. Abe expressed his intention to dissolve the House of Representatives. The poll will be held next month.
