Veld fire rages in Cape Town

A FIRE was raging on the mountain above Glencairn Heights in Cape Town yesterday, the city’s fire and rescue services said. Spokeswoman Sharon Bosch said the fire, which started at about 11am, had destroyed extensive vegetation, but no properties were in danger. Three fire engines, two helicopters and 25 ground crew were in the process of extinguishing the fire, she said. – Sapa
