Civ con col­lu­sion costs R800 000

MIN­ING and con­struc­tion company Civ­con Con­struc­tion had agreed to pay a near R800 000 penalty for col­lud­ing on the South Deep mine project, the Com­pe­ti­tion Tri­bunal said yes­ter­day. The penalty was R798 385 for col­lud­ing with In­fraset, a di­vi­sion of Aveng (Africa), on the Septem­ber 2006 project, regis­trar Lerato Mo­taung said. “This agree­ment fol­lows a Com­pe­ti­tion Com­mis­sion in­ves­ti­ga­tion that un­cov­ered wide­spread col­lu­sion in the con­struc­tion in­dus­try.” – Sapa
