New council to oversee CMS
HEALTH Minister Aaron Motsoaledi had appointed a new council to oversee the governance of the Council for Medical Schemes (CMS), the body said yesterday. “We welcome the appointment of the new council,” CMS acting chief executive and registrar Daniel Lehutjo said in a statement. “We look forward to the insight and expertise from the new council as they help direct the regulator in achieving its vision of striving to be a fair custodian of equitable access to medical schemes in order to support the improvement of universal access to health care.” Professor Yosuf Veriava was re-appointed chairman of the council. Council members are appointed on a part-time basis for a period of up to three years. – Sapa
