Isi­pani added to the col­lu­sion list

ISI­PANI Con­struc­tion has been added to the list of con­struc­tion com­pa­nies that will be pros­e­cuted by the Com­pe­ti­tion Tri­bunal for al­leged col­lu­sive ten­der­ing for the con­struc­tion of the 2010 World Cup sta­di­ums. The Com­pe­ti­tion Com­mis­sion said yes­ter­day it had de­cided to also re­fer a case against Isi­pani Con­struc­tion to the tri­bunal fol­low­ing an in­ves­ti­ga­tion of the firms that did not par­tic­i­pate in the con­struc­tion fast-track set­tle­ment process but were im­pli­cated in cases dur­ing the phase-two in­ves­ti­ga­tions. It said the Isi­pani re­fer­ral joined the oth­ers against firms im­pli­cated for the same con­duct in the con­struc­tion sec­tor. The firms in the ini­tial re­fer­ral are WBHO Con­struc­tion, Group Five Con­struc­tion, Mur­ray & Roberts (M&R), Ste­fanutti Stocks and Basil Read. M&R was granted con­di­tional le­niency while Aveng set­tled all the cases against the company. – Roy Cokayne
