Ian Player rest­ing after stroke

NA­TURE con­ser­va­tion­ist Ian Player is re­cov­er­ing after suf­fer­ing a se­ri­ous stroke with com­pli­ca­tions, the Wilder­ness Net­work said yes­ter­day. “He is com­fort­ably at home in the Kark­loof, KwaZulu-Natal, where he is sup­ported by his wife Ann and fam­ily mem­bers,” the or­gan­i­sa­tion said. “The fam­ily are grate­ful for the well wishes they have re­ceived, but re­quest pri­vacy dur­ing this pe­riod.” An up­date would be given when there was a change in his con­di­tion. Player, 87, suf­fered a stroke last Thurs­day. Player is the older brother of golfer Gary Player. – Sapa
