Fury on Twitter over poor show

- MPILETSO MOTUMI mpiletso.motumi@inl.co.za

IT’S BEEN three days since the match, but Kaizer Chiefs fans are still livid over the goal striker Kingston Nkhatha didn’t score.

So angry are they that some have even ordered for both his legs to be broken or, better still, for him to be removed from the Golden Boys altogether.

Once upon a game between Kaizer Chiefs and Polokwane City, the teams played to a goalless draw and all hell broke loose after Nkhatha failed to kick the ball into an empty net.

It was goalkeeper and defenderless, but still Nkhatha’s legs just could not make it in the direction of a Kaizer Chiefs win.

The non-goal drew so much attention that it trended on Twitter and there was much unhappiness in the streets.

But, his wasn’t the only soccer miss this week. Orlando Pirates striker Lennox Bacela couldn’t tap in the ball for a straight goal, and instead it headed in the opposite direction. The team drew nil-nil against the University of Pretoria. Five points to Bacela for a massive fail. One upset fan tweeted, wondering how any sane coach could continue to play strikers like Nkhatha and Bacela.

Another fan, @DeepMarvin figured that Nkhatha must have had a conversation with Bacela that went a little something like this: “You can’t miss a goal like me and Bacela was like, let’s bet.”

Here are some of the funny and sad tweets that have been posted since the dismal incident:

@LuckyMamakoko: I am still watching this game I thought nkhatha would score on highlights.

@MsBikitshaKuni: I am still trying to get over that Nkhatha miss… it is the miss of the season no doubt.

@BlaqMagiqCom: @Kaizer_ Chiefs how many more seasons left on Nkhatha’s contract?

@S_boh: Of all sports ppl who could die… WHY NOT KINGSTON NKHATHA. WHY?

@LostaBaby: @DJLOYD maybe a ceremony for Nkhatha to score goals.

@LuckyMamakoko: Lol. kaizer chiefs offered Nkhatha a two-year extension, so guy Nkhatha is here to stay. If u don’t like tough on.

@skizoyonga: We don’t want Kingston Nkhatha @Kaizer_Chiefs which part of that don’t u understand?

@DrCele: Get rid of Nkhatha before greeting us RT. @Kaizer_Chiefs: Good Morning.

@Bra_Daki: So Kingston Nkhatha got a chance to say a few words on Soccer Laduma & I couldn’t find a sentence where he said “I’m sorry”. SMH!

@TebogoMasingi: Dear @Kaizer_chiefs admin can you please tell the management that Nkhatha is a liability to the team.

@ThatoBali: Dear @Kaizer_Chiefs. Can you please respect us and send Nkhatha back home. Even if u give him busfare its ok. WE CAN’T TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

@DlaminiDlaminih: @IamPrince_Dbn @Kaizer_Chiefs I appreciate him as a human being, however football wise Nkhatha is a waste, I can help scout a good goalscorer.

@Zwelinzima1: Baxter loves his Nkhatha – there is nothing anyone can do about it.

@DeepMarvin: They say the more the player plays, the more confident he gets, but that’s not the case with Nkhatha.

@MmusiMaimane: @wiseprince I’m also concerned about Nkhatha. Our problems are mounting

@abutirams: People will always remember that one small flop you made in life than the many successful shots Nkhatha.
