It’s a wrap for matric exams

- NONTOBEKO MTSHALI

AS THE class of 2014 writes its final matric exam paper today, the work is just starting for those who will be marking from next Friday.

If everything goes according to schedule, marks will be captured by December 14. The exam system will close on December 18 and the standardisation process, during which marks are adjusted upward or downward, will take place from December 21 to December 23.

The results of pupils who wrote their exams under the Independent Examinations Board will be released on December 31. That same day, the results of pupils who wrote the government’s National Senior Certificate, will be finalised.

From January 3, the statements of results will be distributed to schools.

On January 5, Minister of Basic Education Angie Motshekga is due to announce the matric pass rate and the following day, the results are to be published in newspapers.

Unlike in previous years, this time only pupils’ ID and their exam numbers will be published, not their names.
