Dusi changes key boat weight rule
DUSI Canoe Marathon race organisers yesterday announced changes to the boat weight rules for the three-day, 120km gruelling race. The Dusi rules state that every K1 kayak should weigh a minimum of 12kg, inclusive of all regular accessories. The major change is the enforcement of this regulation, with far stricter policing in place on every stage of the race. The top five men and women’s boats, together with the top three junior boys and girl’s craft, will go through a compulsory weigh-in at the end of every stage, after the traditional pre-race weigh-in procedure was scrapped.
