Palestinian poll hope
JOBURG: The UN deputy special co-ordinator for the Middle East peace process, Robert Piper, has said he was encouraged by preparations for the early October poll across the occupied Palestinian West Bank and Gaza.
These are the first such elections in a decade. Piper appealed to all Palestinian parties to stick to the agreed code of conduct and to refrain from actions that could undermine the process.
He met with the chairman of the Central Elections Commission, Hanna Nasir, to discuss the latest preparations for the upcoming local council elections scheduled to take place on October 8. – ANA
