Call to probe deaths
GENEVA: An international investigation should be launched over the 3 799 civilians deaths caused by all parties in the Yemen conflict since March last year, says UN human rights chief Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein.
Zeid said 7.6 million people in the poor Arab country were malnourished, half of them “on the brink of starvation”.
He collected evidence of possible war crimes and rights violations, including deadly attacks on homes, markets, weddings, hospitals and schools. Of the 2 067 civilians killed between July last year and June this year, 1 259 died in Saudi-led airstrikes. – dpa
