A wheat wedding

-

AS big romantic gestures go, it’s pretty left field. One love-struck boyfriend managed to persuade farmers to mow: “Will you marry me?” in their crops in the hope of winning his girlfriend’s hand. Entrepreneur Sam Thakrar, 27, enlisted farmers 480km from his home in west London, who painstakingly ploughed his message to partner Sara Dhokia, 24, in giant letters into a field. He then took her on a surprise helicopter ride over a farm in Northumberland last Sunday.

Thankfully, the five months of planning paid off and Sara, a teacher, said yes.

Thakrar said: “I pointed the field out to her and she was just stunned, and then she looked back at me and I had a ring.”
